Coaches Review - Round 16

12 Aug 2014 by Jon Kapiniaris

ROUND 16 AWAY V LATROBE UNI.

Latrobe’s form had been a bit up and down over the last 5 weeks but they still had beaten two sides fighting for the final 6.

We kicked with the breeze in the first quarter and with Latrobe playing 1 and sometimes 2 extra players in our forward line scoring was made very hard. After the first 10 min we settled down and started to get control of the game but our forward was still crowded and we only kicked 2.4 to 0.1 for the quarter.

In the second Latrobe were still playing a safe short game which didn’t help there cause in any way as they still turned over the ball. Belly was on top at full back and Thorny was doing great at chb too. Jono was having a good game in the ruck and Mick was doing well on his wing. A low scoring quarter with us 1.2 to 0.1.

While it was a low scoring game we had total control of the game. Dan was doing well either as a forward or on ball. Robes was well on top in the centre with Barra giving great support on ball too. The backline was giving the team plenty of run and we had a lot of inside 45’s but we just could not kick straight. For the quarter we kicked 3.7 to nil.

With a good lead we continue to run and support each other with good handball and didn’t let up on Latrobe. Doozie now up forward was doing well as was Matt & Virgs. Ryan was giving us a good target at chf and Smithy was providing pressure from a wing.

Chris, Leo, Naill & Max gave us good drive from the backline and Eddy kept laying big tackles each time he was on the ground. While kicking against a strong breeze in the last quarter the team battled real hard to get the ball into our forward line right until the final siren. For the quarter we kicked 2.0 to 2.1 to run out winners by over 7 goals.

Next Saturday we play Power House at home.
It’s our second last game and our last home game for the year. So come on down and give us your support it’s, really appreciated.
