ROUND 15 HOME V NORTHERN BLUES
The top of the table clash was with us at the Animal House.

In good conditions both sides started well going goal for goal in the first 15 minutes. The Blues started to get good run from their wingers and on ballers and started to get on top. Great play by Garto saw him kick a goal that kept us in the picture. Despite having 10 more inside 45’s our poor kicking for goal let us down in the quarter and we finished 4.5 to 7.3

The second quarter saw us work our way back into the game with Foxy right on top with 3 goals, Garto kicked another as we increased our lead. The ball was flying from forward line to forward line with little to no defence from either side. At quarters end we had kicked 7.4 to 1.5

Boy how things changed after half time. With little defence and no pressure from the team we allowed the Blues to take back control of the game and get on top. Our run from defence had stopped and our normal open forward line was closed by our players not playing to the style we have been training for all year. Mick Davis had stepped up and was getting on top of their best player. For the quarter we kicked 1.1 to 5.3 which saw us 1 goal down going into the last quarter.

The first part of the last quarter was even but you could see that we were struggling to stay in the game as their run from their centre line players was very good and our defence on these players was poor. Thorny down back was a shining light all day and never gave up, Foxy kicked another 3 goals in the second half, (all of our goals in the half) to finish the day on 7, Dan Hill played well and Barra, while heavily tagged, did his best to lift the side but it was to few trying their best while to many not taking up the challenge and having a red hot go.

Boys it’s better to have a go and make a mistake than not to have a go at all. We are a lot better than what we showed on Saturday and we proved that in the first half, especially the second quarter. The last quarter finished with us kicking 2.2 to 5.3 which gave the Blues a 4 goal win.

We are still on top of the ladder over the Blues by percentage.

This week we are away at Latrobe.

With 3 games to go before finals we now have to ensure our fitness gets topped up and doesn’t drop off. And all players have the attitude that they want to be the best player they can be in the best side.
